AN UPDATED LIST & CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

For many years readers of Rhode Island Roots have seen the notice of volunteer town researchers who generously offer to do free lookups for distant RIGS members, followed by a list of volunteers, on the inside back cover. The many members who have availed themselves of the service know how important it has been. With any such program there will inevitably be changes; however, recently a number of volunteer researchers found themselves with new e-mail addresses, for a variety of reasons others are no longer able to continue, and some new volunteers have stepped forward.

Please see the list below for information received too late for inclusion in the September issue of Rhode Island Roots. The format has changed slightly here: volunteers who handle multiple towns are listed after each town separately.

As of late August 2006, the towns of Bristol, Burrillville, Charlestown, Glocester, and Scituate are still without volunteers.
