RIGS 50th Anniversary Wrap up
What a weekend!
We had 51 people for our 50th anniversary dinner including the Secretary of State who spoke about our need for a RI State Archive building.
Our speakers, Ashley Selima, Rhode Island’s State Archivist and Public Records Administrator, and Lauren Fogarty, Program Coordinator for the Rhode Island Semiquincentennial Commission RI 250 bought a display of documents.
Priscilla Sayward, daughter of our founder Alden Saunders, and her husband attended the dinner. We presented her with a certificate of appreciation.
Diane Boumenot, RI Roots editor, awarded Mary Burdick, CG The Cherry Fletcher Bamberg Award for Excellence in Research
Cumberland Public Library won the Vivid-Pix.com <http://vivid-pix.com/> software and hardware bundle.
Conference on Saturday June 14th
Close to 80 attended our conference
We had 13 vendors, a silent auction, and a pick-a-prize giveaway.
Four inspiring talks by our speakers—Karin Wulf, Keith Stokes, Traci Picard, and Bonnie Wade Mucia—engaged our attendees.
John Tew presented an overview of the history of the society at lunch and reminded us of what the future could hold.
